3D Pinball Space Cadet was developed by Cinematronics and published by Maxis. The game was later reverse-engineered and ported to modern systems by Andrey Muzychenko and community contributors.
Creatiel’s Talking fork is based on version 2.1.0, released on October 16, 2023. In 2026, Creatiel began building on that foundation with voice announcements, a refreshed interface and gameplay refinements.
Creating a 3D Pinball Space Cadet fork
3D Pinball Space Cadet Talking brings a new voice and a refreshed look to the familiar table while preserving its classic gameplay.
Key improvements in the Talking fork:
- Voice announcements for welcome, Extra Ball, First Service, Big Bonus, Center Post, Multiball and Game Over, with applause for qualifying high scores.
- Three Tilt modes: Tilt, Tilt soft and No Tilt.
- Configurable Center Post duration: 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 seconds.
- On-screen Center Post countdown.
- Redesigned right panel with animated visual effects.
- Redesigned high-score table with eight entries and a colorful layout.
- Expanded gamepad support, including generic SDL joysticks and configurable button assignments.
- Improved multilingual text rendering, including accented characters and support for Chinese, Russian and Japanese.
- Optional Enhanced Scaling for a sharper display.
- Animated indicators for Extra Ball reserves and the current ball number.
- Cheats Code and Easy Mode unlocked through lifetime high-score milestones.
The current development build, 3.0.32, includes many additional improvements and fixes. A detailed development history is available in the CHANGELOG.TXT file.
